Marist College Yangoji (MCY) is a co-educational boarding institution owned and managed by the Marist Brothers of the Schools- Province of Nigeria. It shares with other Marist Schools around the globe, in about two hundred years of Catholic Marist Pedagogy handed down by St. Marcelin Champagnat (the founder of the Marist Brothers).
MCY is located in a serene and conducive learning environment in Yangoji village of Kwali Area Council, along the Abuja-Lokoja expressway in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
At MCY, the child is not only given sound education but also a formation that touches every aspect of the human person.
THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF MCY EDUCATION
The aims and objectives of the Marist Brothers education apostolate include the following:
1. To inculcate Christian education in young people;
2. To train young people to be useful to themselves, to their families, and to become good citizens;
3. To give qualitative/all round education to young people;
4. To help young people form good consciences, and to be always led by the Spirit of God;
5. To train young people to live the brotherhood of Christ with everybody, loving each person with a selfless love
These objectives of Marist Education take care of the two dimensions of the human person: “Body and Soul”.
To provide top quality education through effective and efficient use of human and material resources at our disposal in order to ensure a holistic growth of the learner: spiritually, morally, intellectually, culturally, socially, physically and aesthetically.
WHO CAN BE ADMITTED INTO MCY?
The school is open to every Primary school leaver who satisfies the entry requirements and to any boy or girl who is willing to receive the type of authentic education imparted by the Marist Brothers.
METHOD OF ADMISSION INTO MCY
There are two stages in the Admission process into the Marist College, vis:
a. The written entrance examination and
b. The final selection interview
a. The written entrance examination:
Boys and Girls who have successfully finished Primary six write this examination. It comprises of three papers:
ii. Mathematics and
iii. General Paper
b. The final selection interview:
Candidates who pass the written entrance examination are invited or the final selection interview. Here, there is thorough screening through:
i. Another written test and
ii. Oral interview
Successful candidates are given provisional admission letters on the same day and each collects a copy of the school rules and regulation.
