Marist College, Yangoji (MCY) is a co-educational
boarding school owned by the Marist Brothers.
MCY is a fast-growing school with a very high
demand for admissions due to the popularity gained through the students’ excellent performance in internal
and external examinations.
The school is poised to becoming one of the
leading secondary schools in FCT in the coming years. The school’s Learning Management
System (LMS) – a web-based technology–is used to plan, implement and assess learning
process. It provides teachers with a way to create and deliver content, monitor
students’ participation, and assess students’ performance. It also gives
opportunity for online interaction of teachers and their students both when
they are in school and at home.
Yangoji is gradually becoming a “Centre
of Excellence” in 21st Century Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Technology and
Community Service Education with the introduction and implementation the
the “Marist College Smart Hub”.
In this 21st century, any teaching
and learning process that is not technology driven is incomplete. Recently,
the SAGE (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship) programme was introduced in MCY. SAGE is an international program
initiated at the California State University Chico, USA. It engages secondary school students in a
hand-on learning process on how to create wealth, help their communities as
they become self-reliant. It equips students with the capacity of becoming
problem-solvers and critical thinkers who can create technology-driven products
and services that could have a deep and sustainable impact globally.
